The Institute for Animal Health is an international centre for research on infectious diseases of farm animals. Training is an important aspect of our mission and each year we offer a number of studentships in our laboratories.
Studentships currently available can be found here. A leaflet on "Opportunities for Postgraduate Research" can be downloaded here.
Students at the Institute benefit from being part of a world-leading research organisation by being supervised by internationally recognised experts in the field and from access to excellent research facilities, training, seminars, academic journals, etc
Students are registered with prestigious universities for the award of their degrees.
The IAH is an Equal Opportunities Employer
The IAH offers an enhanced PhD stipend – for the academic year 2009/10 this will be £17,490 (£20,510 for veterinary graduates). Stipends are reviewed annually. Studentships funded by BBSRC or IAH provide support for up to 4 years; studentships funded by others vary in the duration of support, see the further details provided. Some studentships are funded under the CASE scheme and are linked with major industrial partners.
On-site accommodation is available at a reasonable rent and is guaranteed for first year students.
The Institute has a subsidised child care scheme, staff restaurants and free parking.
