Diagnosis & Notes:

male genitalia

Although the wing markings suggest an affinity with the pictipennis - simulator group of species, the SD and the structure of the male genitalia leave little doubt that it belongs in this subgenus. The female AR is 1.05-1.16; the SD is 3,11-15.

The figures are from Kremer (1966).

Biology:

Bred from marshy non-saline habitats; little else known.

Distribution:

U.K., France to Russia.

Medical and Veterinary Importance:

Nothing known.
