The IAH is an Institute of the BBSRC

As UK and world experts on bluetongue, IAH scientists have been interviewed, recorded and filmed many times since the first arrival of bluetongue virus in northern Europe in 2006.

Bluetongue virus is spread amongst ruminants by biting Culicoides midges, which we study in addition to the virus itself. The pictures show two of our entomologists Dr Chris Sanders (light grey top) and Dr Simon Carpenter (dark top) being interviewed by Adam Henson for BBC's Countryfile.

More on how they catch midges with their 'midgemobile' can be seen in a video on the BBC News website, and in another video on the BBSRC website.
